The Somerset Waterways Development Trust relies on volunteers for all the activities it gets involved in. This gives members the opportunity to learn new skills, or put old ones to good use!
Here is a list of examples of things members might do.
Administration
Assistant at Shows
Handyperson
Boat Helmsman
Boat Maintenance
Boat Crew
Towpath Tidy
Writing/ Publishing
Guiding walks
Whatever you might like to do, the appropriate training and guidance will be provided. We might ask you to make commitment to volunteer your time in return for the training where the course represents an investment for the Trust.
About Wateread

Wateread is a booklet published at least once a year and circulated free of charge to members. It includes details on the annual events programme, articles of interest to members and a list of current members who choose to have their names published.
If things occur in between publications, a Wateread update is issued, electronically to those who choose to receive it and by post to those who prefer it that way.
If you would like to produce an article for Wateread, or you have a story to tell or a picture that you think other members would like to see, please contact us.
