The Somerset Waterways Development Trust relies on volunteers for all the activities it gets involved in. This gives members the opportunity to learn new skills, or put old ones to good use!

Here is a list of examples of things members might do.

Administration
Assistant at Shows
Handyperson
Boat Helmsman
Boat Maintenance
Boat Crew
Towpath Tidy
Writing/ Publishing
Guiding walks

Whatever you might like to do, the appropriate training and guidance will be provided. We might ask you to make commitment to volunteer your time in return for the training where the course represents an investment for the Trust.

The Trust is run by volunteers and depends on subscriptions, donations and grants to fund the various activities. Many of the voluntary activities are good fun and opportunities to meet others who are enthusiastic about waterways, boating, ecology or just about any water related activity!

If you would like to volunteer to help the Trust, you must be a member so that anything you do is covered by the Trust's public liability insurance.
